Several days ago I had a negative encounter with a patients family member. This lady was off her fucking rocker. She originally started off verbally aggressive towards me but that quickly escalated to physical aggression. While I was getting a fresh set of vitals and doing the motions of getting a new patient this lady stormed in out of freaking no where and starts screaming at me about how I’m hurting the patient and I’m not doing my job right. As I calmly tried to explain everything I was doing and the necessity she was ripping tele leads off, ripping the gown off, etc. I asked her to please stop and she turns towards me, grabs me, and tried hitting me with her other hand. Long story short, the hospital didn’t do shit. shocker. She was allowed to stay and I was moved to a different assignment. I did seek medical attention after my shift because I was having pain in the area she grabbed and I attempted to file a police report. The police were also useless and they stated it wasn’t enough for assault charges but they would hold onto the report if anything new came up. Like what the actual fuck. Is there anything else I can do?
