Nurse alone??
Post Body

So there’s this PRN position at a freestanding ER. Cool, I applied for it, got hired and went to orientation. During orientation I found I will be myself. Meaning, I’m the only nurse in the whole ER. Six beds, two trauma rooms, only a CT tech and a receptionist (and the provider of course). I do all the labs (something I’ve never done). Does this seem safe? I’ve only done one shift with another nurse training me and we were fairly busy. Saw a total of sixteen patients in a twelve hour shift.

Should I just not waste their time?

Update: I spoke with my manager, I voiced all of my concerns. She was very nice and gave me words of encouragement. However, I just don’t feel safe. Maybe I’m not experienced enough or lack confidence in my skills but it just doesn’t feel right. So, I decided to resign. Thank you everyone for your advice!
