So, open question for the community. Not something I’m struggling with at all but just curious about.
Who is a true nudist?
Bottom line for me is this, simply: we all have bodies and everyone’s body should be celebrated. If you don’t mind being naked in the company of others, great, you’re a nudist. Why complicate it beyond that?
But — is there something else to consider in respecting those who consider it a lifestyle?
Say I went on hike one Saturday. A great time but I didn’t get around to doing it again for another month or two. And I have a friend who’s out there every weekend. Catches her own food, can start a fire in a minute, identifies plants. However, to call us both “real outdoorspeople,” even if we both really enjoy nature, would seem pretty disingenuous.
So, on a personal note, that’s me: a hobbyist. I’ve visited a few nude beaches, some private clubs, and I’ve always had a good time. But I don’t try to get back as often as possible, and I don’t usually walk around the house naked. It honestly has nothing to do with being uncomfortable, it’s just my level of interest. It’s not a lifestyle choice for me, which is the crux of my question, because for many others they feel like their most genuine selves when they’re nude. So do I take something away from those who consider this a lifestyle?
Anyway, again, not a debate or remotely a concern for me. I think the simpler answer is probably best, but curious if others have opinions. Thanks!
