A while back, we had a post on stats in CYOA's and how people liked/disliked them.

For some reason, that got me thinking about an aspect I personally like but hadn't seen any posts about specifically. I don't even know if there's a specific name for what I'm talking about so will have to go with what I know them as.

Synergy boosts and options.

The thing where you have a power or character or item, and other options make that power/character/item "expand" and become more powerful for free.

An example of this would be spending points to get a library/study/book, and a "Bookworm" companion getting more text because of it.

Related being the "options" version, where it's something you got to pay for still, but same principle applies.

So...what are people's feelings on them, how do you guys think they help/hinder CYOA's, and how do you think they should be implemented, if at all?
