The office is quiet right now. It's still five minutes to six. Mathis scrolls through his earnings reports. He is not yet The Wolf.

He looks at the rubber mask of the snarling beast, it's curled lips and exposed teeth fixed in a terrifying growl.

In another half-an-hour the room will be filled with the sounds of suffering. But by then The Wolf will be here.

An alert pops up on his screen: Perimeter alarm.

He pops open a new tab. The security camera shows a familiar sight: A taxi driving away leaving tonight's player in front the front of the mostly empty office complex. The player looks at their phone, scrolling to try to confirm the address.

Mathis clicks over to the livestream tab.

Thirty-five people are in the lobby waiting. A small number, not uncommon for an for an early-evening stream. Scanning down the list of names a few stand out, some small time influencers, some medium sized wallets. A good showing would help the week's numbers.

He puts in his airpods. The Wolf likes New Wave.

An uncertain voice crackles through the ancient intercom on the corner of his desk.

"Is this..."

Mathis doesn't let them finish. He punches the button for the door buzzer.

He unplugs his tablet from the charging cable and swipes a few times. Then with a tap the lighting in the room changes. The overhead lighting which previously lit the room flicks off, the studio lights come on.

From the stand on his desk he retrieves the snarling rubber mask and pulls it carefully over his face, careful not to upset his headphones.

It is The Wolfs turn.

The doorknob starts to turn.
