Finalizing the track plan for my 32" x96" loop layout. Currently I have a 5 track yard with a runaround/ passing siding (right side) and an industrial spur and interchange track. (left side) Within the industrial spur I have the following industries: Viterra, (upper left) a seed distributor functioning as my hopper based industry. The complex consists of a loading track (central track), inspection track (rightmost track), and an auxiliary track (leftmost track); Cloverleaf Cold storage (lower left, rightmost track) a food distributor that will service both reefer and box freightcars; Metro Materials (lower left, center track) a general materials handler taking bulkheads, centerbeams, coilcars, and gondolas. The leftmost track within the industrial spur is currently functioning as a lead for Viterra, a spot to drop off cars from the yard, or a staging spot for cars bound for the yard. The leftmost track on the layout is my interchange track where cars bound for destinations unknown appear and dissapear.
As you can probably tell I lean heavy into operations as a focus. After running a few practice ops sessions I find my self mostly pleased with how things are working out, the only change I'm really contemplating is wether to add a crossover between the interchange track and the main in the lower left corner. As far as I can think the only gains to be had from that would be the ability to service the interchange track from either direction.
Please let me know what you think and what you would change if anything.
