It's usually you show up, stand in a line for 10 hours, just to reach the end, meet the bride and groom seated together for like a handshake that lasts 5 seconds, and then you go and sit down and watch them handshake all the other folks. All the while, they play music but it's not nice music. It's trumpet. Instrumental. It's like hearing a sick elephant cry.
And then we get ushered into a room called "hall" where rows of disposable chairs and tables are set up and you get food served on a banana leaf because "culture" and totally not because the families are too cheap to buy you plates. Oh no concept of cutlery, so you eat with your hands. "Culture" And then you go back to your seats except you can't because the seating order has shuffled and you gotta hunt for a chair no one is using and then sit down and hope no one recognizes you. If someone does, cue another 10 hours of smiling and listening to people talk shit about other people before they move on to terrorize other people. if you can last 10 mins without being recognized, then you go on a hunt to find the wedding families and say bye to each and EVERY one of them. And then the madness of trying to get out of the building to your car in the scorching heat. And then, you gotta drive out of the parking lot. Which is a burden coz no one seems to want to leave and cue huge traffic jams.
