My dentist retired recently.
I had set up an appointment with Annandale Smiles based on their location to me. When I called for the appointment I mentioned that I just wanted a cleaning, and that my previous dentist had retired, and I had recently had X-rays and I didn't want more.
They said this was fine.
When I tried my appointment with them today the first thing they wanted to do was take an X-ray. I told them I had had X-rays done and I didn't want more radiation. They said it was their policy that they had to have X-rays to do a cleaning. I told them I wanted to talk to someone who could make an exception, as I just wanted a cleaning, X-rays have never shown anything on my teeth, and I was willing to sign whatever they wanted that I was taking my risk if they couldn't see something because I hadn't had an X-ray.
They refused and gave me a line that they had to have an X-ray to do a cleaning cause otherwise they couldn't see stuff. Stuff a direct quote. I asked what stuff and stuff was just repeated. Finally after repeated requests to explain what stuff meant, I was told they couldn't see the root without an X-ray. Which is ridiculous cause they don't clean the root on a cleaning.
They refused to do the cleaning, and I left furious. They totally wasted my time and I am very upset they did not tell me this rediculous policy when I clearly asked about it when making the appointment.
So now I need a new dentist, close to Annandale would be nice, and relatively affordable would really help as I don't have dental insurance. So if anyone could recommend one I would be most appreciative. Also stay away from Annandale Smiles, you are going to have a bad experience.
