I was without health insurance for many years and only just came back into medical care for a few issues I’ve been having (will need a biopsy, routine treatment and blood work, etc). I was shocked at how high tech the check in and paperwork processes are when I checked in for my appointment. I didn’t have my glasses on and I didn’t feel like going through the electronic documents ad nauseam since I was running a little behind because of parking.
I really would prefer mom and pop type medical centers - and not these giant techy spaces, which means I’ll have to start researching dermatologists, dentists, gastros, ophthas, orthos and gyns.
Are there any practices that still keep paper/pencil charts but might have the occasional high tech machine (dental x ray or scanned colonoscopy, full body derm, etc) around here? I’m willing to drive to Springfield, Alexandria, McLean and Arlington but I’m not willing to keep all my personal data in these giant databases just yet.
