(UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM)

Hello! I have never moved before, I'm going from Chicago to here for a teaching position in Arlington. I was given a 2500 dollar loan to move and am otherwise broke. I am moving alone, no pets, my salary is around 54k but I don't begin getting paid until the school year starts.

I'm nervous, is this going to be enough, at least until the schoolyear starts? I'm not looking for a fancy place, preferrably a 1bedroom but a studio is fine too, and I've been eyeing places on craigslist for around 1500. Do apartments in the area typically ask for 1 or 2 month(s) of rent upfront or a security deposit?

Literally any advice is appreciated, I'm nervous and excited and just want to know that I can feasibly do this. Thank you.

UPDATE: This thread was a real wakeup call on multiple levels, and I seriously appreciate all of the help. I will be taking much of this advice with me in the future. I turned down the job offer and will be staying in and teaching in Chicago. Did you know that I'm being paid the same in both districts, however Chicago's cost of living is 20% above the average, and Arlington's is 41% over? Plus, Arlington's school district and Chicago's are considered the best and highest paying in America. Wild.
