Moving vans

Will be moving back home to Edinburgh and will need a van to move everything to Edinburgh.
Any advice on renting a van and driving it to Edinburgh Vs paying someone to shift it all to Edinburgh for me.
Someone mentioned just renting an SUV and using that.
Never done this before as usually have my own car to do multiple trips but sold it last year so any advice is appreciated!
