Hi all,
It is quite common for me to have this overwhelming feeling of sadness when it comes to the internet and PARTICULARLY smartphones.
I've just watched a childhood movie called 'Beethoven', and it was made in 1992. Seeing the way children (and childhood) was portrayed makes me so sad... the current youngsters don't get to experience childhood in the same, 'pure' way. There was a scene in the film where people were gathered around a bandstand enjoying a summer afternoon - not a smartphone in sight, everybody talking and engaging, everybody really 'in the moment'.
I know that technology has done a lot of good for the world, but it doesn't change the sadness I feel that so many people bury themselves within technology, that children don't get to experience the joys of a tech-free childhood, and that the world is moving to an increasingly disconnected, unemotional, and unfeeling place.
It would be good to know that I'm not the only one that feels this way.
