Hey... it’s been a while I know. I may or may not have disappeared from the Internet for like a month. Or was it two months? I don’t know, since the virus started time has merged itself into a long stretch of never ending Saturdays. Sorry about that. For all of you who don’t know me, I’m Connor, and me and my Neighbor Sage went on a little ghost hunting adventure a few months ago to find the cause of the twenty seven deaths of our apartment building.

Now let me explain why I was gone for so long. Basically because of the virus, I lost my job at subway and couldn’t pay for Internet since the only money I had left was going to pay my bills. I found a few odd jobs online which is currently helping me stay alive at the moment. Well enough with that, I’m sure you all want to know what we found on our ghost hunt. Nothing too extravagant. Some old junk, Pokemon cards and a few bodies. Human bodies to clarify. They weren’t in horrible condition, mostly because there was nothing left of them. Let me explain, they were skeletons technically. The floor itself was covered in green ooze... the same ooze I saw dripping from the shadow monster two months ago. A few screams from sage and violent fluid spewing from me, we got the guts to run. She ran to her apartment and blabbered on in a worried tone to her turtle William Shellspear, before urging me to call the police. I knew it wouldn't do anything since the police here have the motivation of a rock to protect their community, but I did it anyway for her sake. Long story short, I called the police and explained the situation.

“Hello police? My neighbor wanted me to call you guys about a pile of skeletons and green slime in the basement of our apartment.”

The other end was dead silent.

“Hello?” I spoke once more.

“Hey Jeff!” A female voice suddenly screamed. “I need you to head out! We got another pile of skeletons! We’re they human or theropod?” She asked me.

I ignored her question. “Wait, did you say another?”

“Never mind, an officer will be out shortly. What’s your address?”

I gave them my information and they arrived no more than ten minutes later. The two of us led the officer down to the basement. Sage had brought her turtle for quote on quote, “mental support.” Although the turtle was shaking more than she was. Now here's where things get funny. Okay well not actually funny, but I’m being sarcastic. We took the officer down, yet there was nothing there. And I mean literally. I’ve never seen a cleaner basement in my life. Not even my Grandfather’s could match the sparkling cleanliness of the room. I stepped in and rubbed my hand against the polished wall. “Wow, that monster really knows how to put Clorax wipes to good use.”

“There’s nothing here?” The officer looked confused.

“I can see that.”

“There were skeletons her like fifteen minutes ago I swear!” Sage pointed at the floor, looking aghast as William seemed to be nauseous by the cleaning chemical fumes in the air.

The officer was pissed to say the least and left.

Things have seemed awfully quiet since that whole incident. I can’t explain it, but it just is. And I don't mean physically quiet. Maybe it’s the virus making everyone stay indoors, but it feels like it’s more than that. Like an overwhelming feeling of dread that know one can describe, yet we all feel it.

I stopped typing after hearing a knock on my door. “Come in Sage!” I yelled.

“Hey Connor.” She stepped in. “How did you know it was me?”

“I recognized your knocking pattern.”

“Alrighty, that’s not creepy for you to know that at all. Say listen, I was wondering-”

“No I won’t try and potty train William again. That’s your job.”

“I wasn’t going to say that. I just wanted to ask, you seemed jumpy that night we went ghost hunting. Or more like Skeleton hunting for that matter.”

I shied a way, burying my face in my compact computer . “Oh. I didn’t notice.”

“Well I did.” Her voice was more firm. “You saw something when you got locked out of the apartment didn’t you?”

“No.”

“Then why were you acting jumpy?”

“I wasn’t, just had a hard day at work-”

“You make sandwiches not direct company projects. Now tell me what you saw.”

“I told you it wasn’t anything. At least anything notable.”

She grabbed me by my shoulders firmly and stared at me with loathing eyes. “Now you listen Connor and you listen closely. Tell me what you saw. If it has anything to do with all the deaths in this building than we need to get to the bottom of this.”

“Can’t we just let Scooby doo figure this out-”

“CONNOR.” She shook me violently.

“ALRIGHT ALRIGHT JUST GET OFF ME.”

She let go.

“I saw that weird shadow monster eating a body. There was green ooze dripping from it that’s all. He was probably having dinner and I interrupted him.”

“We have to find the monster.”

“Why exactly?”

“To kill it, exorcise it, yeet it, I don’t know! Anything to get rid of it. Tell me, when was the last time your mirror told you your days were numbered?”

“Last Thursday.”

“Alright, so that means we’re really cutting it close. It’s been two months and we could be it’s next snack break any time now.”

“I don’t mind beating a snack for a shadow monster if it means getting me out if this hell hole.”

“But I don’t want to get eaten, and I don’t want you to get eaten either.”

“Why?”

“What do you mean why? You’re my friend.”

“Oh, didn’t know you considered me that close.”

“I said friend Connor not blood brother. Now come on.”

“Where are you taking me now?”

“Let’s get out of this building and explore the road. There’s more to this mystery that lies behind this crummy apartment, and I plan to stop it before whatever that monster is makes the whole street Chinese take out.”

“We could just watch a movie together.

She turned around and glared at me.

“Or hunting a giant deadly eldritch monster that wants to eat us sounds cool too.”

She grabbed me, and was about to drag me out when I retracted my hand.

“Hang on.” I went back to my computer where I sit now. Sorry for the rushed entry, but I need to end this before she yells at me. I’ll update when I can. WiFi is hard to come by at this point in time so I don’t know when I’ll be able to post an update. It could be tomorrow, or could be five months from now. But in the mean time, farewell Redditors.
