The things I see when I wake up
Post Body

Hi nosleep, this isn't exactly a story or anything, but more a condition I've had most of my life. I know the rule is "it's real even if it's not real" but I can truthfully say this is real, judging by the fact that this may not be terribly scary or creepy or anything to anyone who hasn't experienced it first hand. That being said, try to imagine this is happening to you. Not as in a, "I'm watching a scary movie and this is what I would do," way, a real, this is happening, for real.

Since I was little I've experienced a phenomenon that I've since researched, and it's basically, "your body wakes up, but your brain carries over some dream material." The first instance I can remember is what I ask a kid used to call "blue people." Basically, I'd wake up from a dream, and sometimes I's see people that were in my dream, there in my room, but a transparent blue. It wouldn't last long, just enough for me to start to realize what I was seeing, and then they'd disappear.

Some of you may ask, "You were a little kid and it didn't scare you?" Well, part of it happened to be that I was still half dreaming, so didn't really realize how bizarre and freaky this really was, until I had completely "woken up." But there have been other occasions that scared me instantly.

I have on more than one occasion, woken up to find a snake or giant spider in my bed, and actually leaped out of bed and flung the covers off, frantically looking for it, until I realized what was happening. I once so much as, when I saw a giant spider scurry down my bed onto the floor, jumped up and crush it with a lamp. Only to find, when I picked the lamp up, nothing was there.

I've also woken up to find a little girl standing next to my bed, three feet away. Needless to say I was freaked. On the same night, after having a dream about witnessing a robbery, I woke up and happened to be facing my poster of John Belushi. (It's the U.S. Senator Blutarsky poster, some of you may know what I'm talking about.) As I stared at it I noticed something was off, and thought to myself how much it looked like the robber in my dream. As I had that thought, as if reading my mind, the face in the post slightly smirked at me and shook his head. I know it sounds odd, but I instantly knew he was telling me, "No, you're not imagining it." And then it was back to John Belushi.

One final story I'll share. I had a very odd dream one night, long story short, of a man in a black T-shirt, jeans and belt, following me and members of my family around, and no one realized it until we watched a video tape that happened to be recording. (I know, it's weird and stupid, but dream logic, we've all been there.) I woke from this dream to find this man standing on the other side of the room. I sat up, not sure I was actually seeing him, and as if he knew I saw him, he quickly ducked behind my dresser. Which was flush against the wall. I slowly laid back in bed, waiting maybe 15 minutes until I had the courage to get up, turn on the light, and pull the dresser out. Of course, he was not there.

So as I said, maybe not a traditionally "scary story" but this is something real I've experienced, and have wanted to share with people for a long time, so this seemed like a good place.
