Just a curiosity question, but why doesn't our costal towns have "pleasure" piers like you see all over England. (Picture of example)
Is it geography, religion, social, lack of interest? Did the lasting effects of the famine cause things like this to be put off at the time they were getting built?
Or we had them and they're gone.
I can't think of any as far as I'm aware.
Any info is appreciated
Its a shame, for sure. We have some gorgeous coastline, and piers could be really nice around.
But again, we almost always forgotten about, so money specifically for things like this, isn't getting invested. Mainly just EASTERN infrastructure that we do not need. (Mid Ulster -> Belfast Trainline would be fucking amazing rn, but sure)
