I have an idea/fantasy for a movie about the events surrounding Norse Mythology. A typical blockbuster with a big all-star cast and budget. But with given care and detail, much like Lord of the Rings or the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones. The central Aesir gods and other important figures would be the focus characters, as well as important human characters.
As expected, it'll follow the leading events, drama, and execution of Ragnarok. I enjoyed Thor: Ragnarok and did find some interesting aspects of the inspired Norse material incorporated in the plot, but found that there were many chances to include further links to the original myths. I understand that it's marvel comics interpretation and usage of the content that determined what happened, but it only sparked my interest further.
Plotlines I'd wish to see in the movie (myth and movie fabricated):
- The death of Baldr.
- Fimbulwinter (from a human's perspective)
- Gods aiding in human conflict.
- The Valkyries take a warrior to Valhalla.
- Odin's denial and bargaining surrounding the prophecies.
- Hel recruits her father Loki into joining her.
- Loki prepares a Jotun army in secrecy.
- Magni and Modi argue and debate their legacy of Mjolnir.
- Ragnarok itself. Odin dies to Fenrir. Thor dies to Jormungandr. Tyr dies to Garm. Freya dies to Surtr. Heimdallr to Loki.
- Nine realms destroyed, surviving gods start over learning from their elder's mistakes.
Cast (This is where the fun begins):
- Odin - Jeff Bridges
- Thor - Kristofer Hivju
- Baldr - Viggo Mortensen
-Tyr - Chris Pratt
- Loki - Robert Pattinson
- Hel - Lena Headey
- Frigg - Brie Larson
- Sif - Scarlett Johansson
- Heimdallr - Sharlto Copley
And so on...
I love this mini fantasy I have and hopefully one day something of this scale (potentially a pentalogy of movies). Just thought I'd vent an idea I had.
Hope you're all well, and stay well. Have a great day!
