So I am in a bit of a weird place and trying to figure out a new career path. I am 26, have 3 years of experience in logistics/purchasing and spent a bit of time in public service. In January of this year I went from being legally blind to I guess "functionally blind". I have had no vision in my left eye since I was about 13 and as of February due to glaucoma I only have about 50% remaining in my right eye - where I can see is 20/200. All that to say, I can still work it is just extremely hard to get that across to private employers.
I have a degree in political science, have participated in phone banking and canvassing events for political campaigns and I got a very high conversion rate.. I'd like to think I can do fundraising work? Is it not basically sales with extra steps, selling the organization's mission and the benefits of regularly donating to help support XYZ cause? I'm currently in talks with social services where I live (a Southeastern state) and their only job offers have been "9/hr customer service, or go work on an oil platform".. trying to build something for myself here. I applied for a training course in recruitment/TA but it's not 100% guaranteed and would start in November.. I kind of need money between now and then.
Advice would be very much appreciated. Is remote work a thing in this type of job these days?
