Stigma around unicorn hunting?

Married and monogamous for 15 years. Wife and I have discussed having a threesome and through research I've come to understand that "Unicorn hunting" is taboo among the majority of the community but there's alot of ambiguity as to why though. If all parties involved are aware of the situation and are consenting, why is this an issue?
