Can someone just give me the rundown on what protected oral sex is like and if it’s “worth it” in your opinion? I already have enough of a difficult time being comfortable having a dick in my mouth, let alone tasting rubber/lube from a condom. I don’t even know where to get a dental dam or how to use one...

Like I understand that I can catch an STD from giving someone head, but if I’m having sex with people that I trust to tell me if they know they have an std and I’m not having one night stands with strangers, is my risk for catching an STD through it very high?

Also, is it fishy if a partner asks that you use protection for oral when you didn’t use it when you first started dating?

(Also I’m more interested in answers about giving men oral as opposed to giving women oral, if that makes a difference. I don’t see why it would, except I guess guys are more likely to precum or ejaculate I guess.)
