My partner (A) and I have always been open about being poly. When we met, I was seeing two others, and A also wanted to explore polyamory, having dated a bit while long distance with their ex. We've been long-distance for a while now and said "I love you" this summer. Shortly after, I went on a date with someone in my city (B).
I didn’t feel a spark with B at first, but we began flirting, and I told A. They were upset but supportive, asking me to be safe. Before my date with B, I reassured A, and everything seemed fine. B and I had strong chemistry and ended up sleeping together, but afterward, A was anxious, couldn’t sleep, and pushed me away for a few days.
Two months later, things still feel unresolved. A feels things moved too fast and is uncomfortable, despite my honesty. B is giving us space but is sad, and I miss them too. I feel frustrated and hurt because I thought we were doing everything right.
Has anyone else experienced this? How did you handle it?
