This question is isn't for people in general to speculate on WHY someone may or may not want "discretion" or when or why that would be valid. This question is for people, particularly couples, who are actively on apps like Feeld or other apps who have their faces blurred out or talk in their profile about needing "discretion."
If you need blurred face pics/discretion because of your jobs, would you mind sharing what job you have or at least what industry it's in? Are you in a right-to-work state where you can be fired at any time for any reason or do you live in a state/country that has more labor protections?
If you need blurred face pics/discretion because of your family, is it because they're religious? Do they provide childcare or financial support for you that they would rescind if they found out that you practiced polyamory/ENM? Do you worry some of your family might also be on the apps and see your profile and you'd be embarrassed? Is it because you have kids you haven't given age-appropriate information about your lifestyle to yet or maybe they're too young to understand properly?
Are one or both of you on the LGBTQ spectrum but one or both of you aren't out?
Do you live in a small town in a deep red state in the U.S. or a very strict country where being openly ENM/polyamorous could get you accused of child abuse or "grooming" or lead to you getting hate-crimed or prosecuted or something similar?
Some other reason?
Maybe it's just because I'm an unmarried queer woman and therefore my dating app feeds have a ton of MF couples looking for a solo queer woman to have threesomes/a triad relationship with so I probably see more of these profiles than the average bear, but I'd say at least half of them have blurred face pics and/or talk really firmly in their profile about how they need absolute discretion and I'm genuinely curious as to why that would be.
