Can sexual chemistry in ENM relationships wane or is it something that can be nurtured & brought back to health?

Have heard of primary couples having sex two to three times per day to then dropping to nearly three to four times per month — taking into account NRE, other factors like stresses, moving in w each other…
Is it something that can be worked on or is it widely believed that it’s something that can’t be controlled?
In other words when it’s over it’s over..
Some think adding a partner can help, either separately or throupling up — thoughts?
