One sided nonmonogamy
Post Body

I(29m) am with my lovely partner (27F) and it’s been almost a year and things are really amazing between us! From day one we were both up front about our nonmonogamy lifestyle (Me being a more Polyamorous and her being more nonmonogamous) and we both agreed to find a middle ground that works for both of us.

Sadly in her previous relationship before me of 5 years, her partner unfortunately would use nonmonogamy/poly as a method to behave unethically, cheat, lie, etc etc so her visions on everything thus far has been been jaded and skewered. Fast forward to where we are now and she’s began to feel comfortable again to start dating others (only women at the time being cause that’s what she desires most right now but she has expressed her interest in dating men when she feels more inclined) and I’m all here for it! She’s happy, getting all the love poured back into her and I couldn’t be more enamored at this progress since she practically was close to never allowing it again.

This in turn has resulted into my taking a step back sexually from my existing partners (all were on board and understanding) since she still isn’t really 100% comfortable with me interacting with other women myself. My question I suppose is has anyone else ever been in a similar scenario or have just dealt with a situation of one sided nonmonogamy before? And if so how have you felt throughout that time? Also what would be some good advice for me to assist her in coming out of her shell a bit more?

All of this is voluntary on my part and the true melancholy side really only begins to present its self when we go to play parties and I’m seeing her enjoying herself sexually with women and I’m not interacting as such unless it’s with her.

Thanks for any insight and views shared on this!
