Hi. My bf(29) and I(27f) have been in a relationship for 2 years(a year fwb/situationship and 1 year officially dating). We've always been open from the start. A year ago he was diagnosed with depression and had to take antidepressants, which for some parts, have affected our sex life and activities but we managed to talk about it and get through it. He hasn't seen or gone out with anyone else since then, and I for a time was on dating apps and even went out with some people. It wasn't a perfect year for us but we have come to figured things out.

Recently tho, in December he had to stop taking his antidepressants and has withdrawn from me in past weeks. We tried talking about it, he communicated feeling overwhelmed, especially with the holiday season, wanting a lil bit of space from me. I also communicated my needs - both emotional and physical.

We had a discussion last 1st Jan and I suggested having some time and distance apart. For him to focus on his mental health and for me to regain my self esteem and energy - he assured me that he's still attracted to me and it doesn't mean he loves me less. It's just the depression and stopping the pills. I totally understand it and I would give him however time and space he needs.

The night of 1st January, when we agreed to have some time apart(no contact/texting) I went out with friends to a NY party at a club. Ofc, some guys tried hitting on me and I must admit, it made me feel desired again. I know I shouldnt find validation from this but in these times, I wanted to feel attractive and appreciated.

So my question, as I try to navigate this, I want to work on my self love and appreciation. At the same time, I want to see other people again, without making it seem like I'm abandoning my current bf. I love him and I wouldn't replace him for anyone...I just need some space for me to feel that spark again. Am I wrong for this? Anyone who has gone through the same situation? Please be nice...thank you!
