Dating off the escalator

If you are a person who lives on your own, how quickly do you bring it up to new people in your life that you have no intention on jumping on the relationship escalator and moving in together?
I find that a lot of men I go on dates with, or who become a bit more partnery over time, assume that because I live alone I am looking to eventually move in with someone.
