Many would say that magnifying problems in the relationship are negatives. I would think perspective is important here and discovering what opportunities you may stumble upon to address and grow from both individually and as a couple are important.

That said, the negatives are a potential sense of loneliness and intimacy about being able to celebrate what you and your partner are conquering in expanding your life experience. From a societal aspect, we tend to share and celebrate other aspects of our relationship with others who are close to us and can support and champion your cause as a couple or individually. You will find that there will be moments where you, alone or together, awill be proud about how you handled a situation in the lifestyle and will not be able to share it the same way you would other aspects of your life unless you are very open, unapologetic, and have very supportive and understanding family and friends. You may discover that there is more judgement and shaming if you are more open about your lifestyle decisions. In the end though, you are doing it for yourselves and have each other to celebrate this with, own it, and grow closer together from the experience.
