Hello!
I love to read, and I’m wondering whether anyone can recommend novels about open relationships and/or ENM?
My husband (M36) is interested in exploring ENM. Though I am fearful, I (F35) want to support his personal growth and well-being as an individual. In order to learn more, we have read several books together, listened to podcasts, talked about it extensively, and started seeing a therapist who is supportive of non-traditional relationships.
I am queer, and two decades ago when I realized this, I turned to novels to help me process. While exploring ENM was not my idea, and I am experiencing some discomfort, fear, and anxiety, I am fully aware that I was also uncomfortable and afraid when I first had queer relationships. In that case, I discovered who I was and then I needed to grow into someone comfortable with that identity. Reading queer novels helped me a lot! Scary thoughts and feelings fell away and were replaced by stronger mental health and pride.
I am not sure whether ENM is for me, but reading queer novels with helped me expand what I thought was possible and made me feel proud of who I am a couple decades ago. It seems like it couldn’t hurt now. If anyone has any novel recommendations, I would love to hear them.
TL;DR: I’m looking for novels about open relationships!
