It seems like I've hit a roadblock or sticky point in my nonduality practice. When I do self-inquiry, asking questions like "Who am I?" or "Where am I?" or when I try methods like "The Headless Way," the most common response of the mind (and often it's very subtle) is a quick mental flash of my face. As I've become more aware of my thoughts, I notice how pervasive this mental face is. It's constantly popping up throughout the day as a reference point for "I." It feels like it's "in the way" of what I'm seeing most of the day.
My question is: will this mental image eventually lose strength the more I pay attention to it? Does it fade away with more practice? Does anyone have experience with this or tips for inquiring about this image?
