Questions about progression order

Post Body

So, I have a couple questions. In terms of ā€œprogressionā€, there are a lot of different things you can do in this game, as Iā€™m learning. For example, I still havenā€™t ā€œbeaten the gameā€ yet after 100 hours of gameplay, as every time I get a run strong enough to explore the surface by the time Iā€™m at the Snowy Depths, I end up doing that instead of what I assume would ā€œbeat the game traditionallyā€, and Iā€™m not sure if thatā€™s a good thing or a bad thing. Because of my exploration, Iā€™ve learned about a bunch of things like the Kantele, the Alchemy Lab, the Frozen Vault, the Experimental Wand, the Chaingun, the Pyramid (I even beat the boss there once), and much more. However, I feel like I spend a lot of time in those runs just kinda vibing and not improving as a player. So my first question I guess is would you all recommend exploring and such, progressing in a traditional sense, or option 3 (ie. the option(s) I am not currently considering)? My second question is that is there a consistent method to find more mana production and recharge time reduction? I feel like in most runs there are ways to build around the rest of the stats on a wand being awful, like stuffing shuffle wands with multicasts in an attempt to cast the whole wand every time, a lot of different tools (primarily the digging variety) and spell wrapping to kill cast delay, and other such things, but I feel like those two and capacity are the ones Iā€™m usually gated by. I at least feel like there arenā€™t actually methods to build around tiny capacities, but the other two can be if I get lucky, but kinda only then? Lastly, I love messing around with wand building, but I feel like a lot of the time I donā€™t find much worth building with that doesnā€™t take at least 20 minutes within the Mines and the Collapsed Mines and because of that, I tend to struggle in the Coal Mines, Fungal Caverns feel like a death sentence, and by Snowy Depths, excluding when I get really lucky, I have to choose from the outset whether I go to the surface or the Hiisi Base, because I donā€™t have the life for both. I have yet to get further than the place past the base even on the runs where I get really lucky early, and Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s because Iā€™m a bad player, if Iā€™m an unlucky player, both, or itā€™s another issue. Iā€™ve made wands before that can shoot every frame for an arbitrarily large amount of time before, but I always manage to lose to something I fail to account for, something I donā€™t know, or just attrition as even those wands donā€™t hit hard enough. Any ideas?
