The sidebar doesn't mention videogames, so I hope I'm not breaking a rule.
The game The Wolf Among Us is a great example of the noir genre. It has crimes, moral dilemmas, mistery, and specially, a dark ambience.
It is set in a universe where the characters from the fantasy tales (cinderella, red riding hood, snow white, etc.) escaped their worlds to come live on earth among real people. However they must not be noticed and must remain hidden from the public or disguise their true selves. They call themselves fables.
You take the role of Bigby (short for the Big Bad Wolf) who is trying to have a new life and works as the sheriff for the fable community. He is in human shape thanks to a spell called glamour which gives animal fables a human body.
The game is by no means a kids' game, for it has dark heavy subjects like poverty, murder, suicide, prostitution, etc. I highly recommend it for the great visual design, the amazing soundtrack and the completely unique and beautiful story.
I'll add a link in the comments as soon as I get off the phone.
