No-Buy for sewing
Post Body

Hello, I'm nearly a month into my first no-buy/low-buy. I realized that I was overwhelmed with sewing projects and had a stash that was busting out of my storage. But I do mostly vintage/historical projects, so sometimes I need to buy something specific, like twill tape or metal buttons to recreate things.

I'm happy with my rules so far, and I actually haven't bought anything yet even though I've allotted myself one project a month for new supplies. Trying to use stash whenever possible and only buying when truly necessary. For example, I might soon recreate a dress that requires 25 matching buttons, and my button stash can't handle that! But when I do that, I know that it will be my only project I'm buying for.

I'm even finding myself more mindful and slow on "necessary" sewing purchases, in this case a replacement needle for an antique machine that was in my parent's basement. Instead of just jumping on this big thing, I'm thinking about if it's worth it and what my options are instead.

It's even motivated me to do a no-buy in all other aspects of my life too! Especially since I can start using up that stash making cute new clothes lol!

Does anybody else have an experience on navigating a no/low-buy with such a supply-heavy hobby like sewing?
