The problem I always had is that Strong and ROH (at least in its previous format) were very similar. ROH closed its doors and loads of fans all said the same thing: "This can't be over". And it isn't. I almost think Strong was set up to fill the void ROH left. As a result when it came back, AEW and NJPW wound up with a duplicate.
Something else I'm gonna be watching is which worker goes where, because from all these recent situations it's clear some people at AEW don't want to rub up against people they don't get along with, so I can see a lot of the ex ROH originals and breakout workers going there. A lot of those have appeared on Strong cards (Homicide, S.A.T., Kingston and the like) and the last big card had Okada and the old superteam reformed from the ROH event years back.
If NJPW and ROH work like they used to together I have no qualms about this at all. ROH should be left to run itself organically, it was never forced in the first place. If anything I'm wondering at the possibility of an ROH GCW feud and that just gives me warm fuzzies.
This is a sad announcement for some but it makes sense I guess.
Well I was wrongo it seems bud. ✌🏻
I wouldn't count on him winding up in either of the larger feds is all. Both have some pretty serious issues. And then again, Jonah would have been dead set on staying but like many have pointed out they have lives outside the ring to live too. Being close to home is a big lure for any potential employee, but so is being limited. We'll see anyway.
Not if creative are separate or it does get handed to NJPW control with the same people as strong. Too many factors. Like I said I'll wait.
ROH has been boosting its profile like mad via Instagram lately so I think it's going to be hyped until a tv pickup.
I'll be honest with you WWE and AEW make money but... It's a cage. And that's actually spurring people to swerve it and leave.
Most people I know of that have end up watching wrestling outside of WWE or AEW or Impact don't go back to watching it regularly. It's not a statement on the entire quality of it, it's just that you can get news on that anywhere. And they get tired of seeing the same old metaphorical fish chase each other round the tank when they could be watching The Blue Planet in real time.
ROH was the future at one point and I think it still is. Put the right worker/creators in there and watch what happens, that's my take on it. I think it could be massively popular.
Compared to ROH how Styles was used at the start of TNA was a crime, that's not a great comparison to me but that's an aside man 😂😁

Yeah, but if the sub switches to be included in NJPW packages, there could be changes made. I don't deny it has way too much competition to make it as a stand alone sub, but I'm gonna hold fire to see what becomes of it before I write it off. It's hardly naivety: like I said I've been watching since 2006.
