Hi all. I have beta access to Midjourney AI, which is an AI that generates artwork based on the prompts you feed it. I figured I would see how it would interpret NIN, so I had it make art for every song on The Downward Spiral by feeding it a line of lyrics from each song. I'm super happy with what it ended up making and so I thought I'd share. I put the prompts used next to each piece. I'm probably going to do Year Zero next!

Piggy (Nothing can stop me now)

Heresy (God is dead and no one cares)

March of the Pigs (All the pigs are all lined up)

Closer (You get me closer to God)

Ruiner (The Ruiner's a collector, He's an infector)

The Becoming (It won't give up it wants me dead, damn this noise inside my head [Goddamn is a disallowed word])

I Do Not Want This (I want to do something that matters)

Big Man with a Gun (slightly nsfw)

A Warm Place (The best thing about life is knowing you put it together)

Eraser (Lose Me, hate me, smash me, erase me)

Reptile (Oh my beautiful liar, Reptile)

The Downward Spiral (Everything is blue in this world, the deepest shade of mushroom blue, all fuzzy, spilling out of my head)

Hurt (You could have it all, my empire of dirt, I will let you down, I will make you hurt)

Edit: Just to clarify couple of quick things -

1. I did include the song title in several of the prompts.

2. The AI isn't perfect; some of these were not in the first batch of what the AI generated and I rerolled the prompt until it produced something that actually looked appropriate. Big Man, Reptile, and Closer took a few tries - sometimes the AI shits out some super weird stuff that doesn't make any sense, but you can tell it to try again.

3. I have already generated most of Year Zero and will be submitting that in the near future!
