Hey Guys, I was about to pull the trigger on a Nikon Z50 with the 2 lense kit - At $1300 its about as much as I want to spend on a setup right now. Im an amateur looking to get into the world of photography - Now I see theres supposed to be an Nikon Z50 II coming out in 2024. Am I being ridiculous to spend $1,000 On the Z50 Body 2 lenses, when a new one might be around the corner? Looks like this cam has been out for 4 years, and dont wanna spend the cash to buy new if the Gen 2 is coming out in a couple months . Any input is greatly appreciated
I mean, I wouldn’t hold my breath for a gen 2. You really never know and anyone that says they do is lying. If you like the 50 and want a crop, go for it. I’ve had one, it was a great camera. Super small for its performance. Handled well. I’d get the 26, 28, or 40 for it and the 50-250. I’d skip the smaller zoom. Makes it very compact.
I shoot a lot of portraits and in low light, and started picking up some quasi professional gifs. the 50 loses some of its dynamic range in challenging light. Which was important to me. So I got a z5 after only having a 50 for about 6 months. The z5 is better for my purpose. But you can pick up a 5 pretty cheap on eBay.
