I made a new Tinder account using a middle name instead of my real name because I was sick of men finding me on social media because my name age the town I live in are enough to stalk me.
I would always tell them off for it when they did it. I think it says a lot about them - a match on a dating app is consent to talking in the app, but it's not consent to contacting the match elsewhere. (Some do that too, because they think they don't get replies fast enough or whatever.) And just existing on a dating app is most definitely not consent to contact attempts on social media from people we haven't even swiped right on.
I'm just glad that no one showed up knocking on my door saying "hi, I saw you on Tinder". (And if they did, at least l don't live alone, so it could be even worse.)
You were super nice to this dude, despite the way he contacted you. Like, really really nice, and you even gave him a chance. And he... Yikes. Big fat yikes. I'm sorry that happened to you.
