I'm going back to hospital tomorrow for a follow up appointment, a month after discharge. I was seriously ill, I spent 36 nights in a gastro ward, ICU, and stroke unit. I was in a coma and on life support for much of my stay and given a 50% chance of survival at one stage.
I obviously survived and made an incredible recovery with the support and amazing care of the NHS staff that treated me. I work for one of the UKs largest medical insurers and as an employee have access to a high level of private healthcare options, but the care I received by these wonderful people at the worst time in my, and my family's life, was second to none.
I want to say hello and thank them for the chance at life I was given. Other than my words, what would be appropriate gifts to give? I was thinking about maybe getting posh coffees or smoothies for them all at the hospital volunteer shop, but not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
