I don't understand why people say the Option (College-style) Offense won't work in the NFL when that is essentially what Cam Newton is running in Carolina. I know not many of you are watching Panthers games, and Cam Newton hasn't gotten nearly as much attention since Tebow became the starter. But the Panthers are 5th in total offense, 6th in rushing and 9th in passing. They have only scored less than 20 points 3 times. The general consensus after close losses to Green Bay, at Chicago (with Cutler), New Orleans and at Detroit, that they will be a solid, winning team next year. What gives? Is it only because Newton can actually throw the ball and Tebow has not shown that yet? If that is that the only difference then clearly college-style offense can work, you just need to have a deep ball threat (just like any-style offense!).
TL;DR I would love some insight into the disparity between people's perceptions that Denver can't win with the Option Offense but Carolina is putting up tons of points running it.
