I was thinking about how the 07 Patriots lost to the New York Giants in their Super Bowl and how it was crazy that the only team to have a perfect 16-0 regular season lost the super bowl when I realised it happened in every major sport.

• 2007 Patriots who were the only football team to get 16 wins in a regular season lost the super bowl to the New York giants

• 2018 Tampa Bag Lightning lost in the first round of the playoffs after getting swept by the Columbus blue jackets. The 1996 Detroit red wings also lost in the playoffs to the Colorado Avalanche.

• 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors lost to Lebron James lead Cleveland Cavaliers after blowing a 3-1 series lead.

• the 1906 Chicago Cubs lost in the World Series to the Chicago White Sox and the 2001 Seattle Mariners lost to the New York Yankees

• The 1998 DC United and the 1998 LA Galaxy both went for 24 wins but both ended up getting knocked out of the playoffs by the eventual champions the Chicago Fire in their inaugural year.

Note: this only works for wins and not win percentage as the 77 Montreal Canadians won the Stanley cup.
