Question on players predicted injury recovery times
Post Body

After seeing the Saquon news on how wonderfully he’s recovering. I got curious as to how the team medical staffs eval a players time frame for recovery. Do they go off of a predetermined sort of chart? Say Saquon’s injury happened to a healthy 200lb everyday man. Would his recovery time also be 6-8 weeks? I know these are pro athletes in the top half percent of physicality in the world. But do doctors account for all the drugs and enhancers these players use when evaluating the recovery times? Or is it sort of a, “This normal humans usual recovery time is X amount of weeks with an injury of this severity?” It seems like every year players recover faster and faster from major injuries. They put in the work for rehab and with diet. But I can’t help but feel the drugs play a huge role in recovery (Duh). If docs incorporated the drug use in the evals, would you think the public or media would acknowledge the ridiculously quick healing process? Say if a high ankle sprain was given a 2-3 weeks recovery time instead of the normal 6-8 weeks?
