It's a relatively big night for US Soccer, all things considered. But, you're an American, and you don't care about soccer, right? Right. I'm an American too...

But, you love national teams! And, on top of that OUR National Team is playing very well right now. They're on ESPN tonight, not some obscure network. And, they start at 9:30 EST which is probably after most of your other appointment-viewing on TV is finished for a Tuesday night! And, there's no NFL going right now!

Tonight's game is a World Cup Qualifying Match.

And what does that mean exactly?

Right now, the USMNT is competing in CONCACAF's World Cup Qualifying Final Round. There are six teams in the group and only the top 3 can represent their country in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Currently, after 4 games played, the USMNT sits in 2nd place (behind Costa Rica) near the top of the CONCACAF standings.

Now I know what you're thinking:

"But there's no scoring in soccer! It's boring!!"

That just isn't true. In the previous 3 games alone there's been a total of 16 goals scored!

"No one else in America gives a good god damn about soccer. And, they certainly won't be watching it on TV tonight."

Again, not true. People care, they're just quiet. Hey, it's no Super Bowl, I get it. Although, for March's WCQ game against Mexico, ESPN had 1.4 Rating with 2,385,000 viewers tuned in.

"A soccer game takes forever! I don't have all night, I have to work in the morning!@?"

Soccer games have 2 halves of 45 minutes each. Should I mention that there's no stop in play?! No commercials except at half time! Tonight's game should be wrapped up before 11:30 EST.

"The United States doesn't even have any good soccer players worth watching! All the good players play in different countries!

You might find that Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Tim Howard and more play on teams in the premier leagues in Europe... and the USMNT. Hey, we even beat Germany last week...
