What would an off-ball linebacker need to do to win DPOY?
Post Body

Honest question and I say this as a reactionary response to today's 49ers Vikings game but the award has become pretty much locked to linemen with the occasional corner the past few years and I'm wondering what someone like Fred Warner would have to do to win it? He doesn't really dominate # of tackles because that's not his role but his coverage is impeccable and his interception forced fumble numbers are already pretty great to start the year. Would a whole season of this even get consideration?

The last guy to do it was Luke Kuechly a decade ago. So that's the bar you have to meet. Kuechly also played out of his mind that year, and I really believe that one of the reasons he won was because the usual suspect sack leaders were either on bad teams (JJ Watt) or out for the year (Von Miller).
