This is dumb, but I’ll ask it anyway
Post Body

So I’m watching the Chiefs beat the Dolphins in Germany this morning on NFL Network. After the game, Patrick Mahomes is interviewed by the network and asked if the Chiefs’ defense is the best he’s had since he joined the team. He responds by saying that he believes that the Chiefs have a chance to be the best defense in the NFL and so the answer is an emphatic yes. All of this seems pretty basic as it relates to NFL postgame interviews.

Fast forward to this evening: I’m watching the Bills play the Bengals on NBC. At halftime, NBC runs down the league. When reviewing the Chiefs’ victory over the Dolphins earlier that morning, they run a (presumably) different postgame interview with Pat Mahomes. He’s interviewed by Peter King on behalf of NBC, who asks him THE EXACT SAME QUESTION that the NFL Network asked him regarding his defense. Lo and behold, he gave the exact same answer verbatim, “I think we have a chance to be the best defense in the league, so the answer to your question is yes.”

My question: was Pat Mahomes asked by NBC to repeat what he had just said to another broadcast network in a subsequent interview after the game? That seems pretty tacky doesn’t it?

…I’ll hang up and listen.
