Are dbrand skins permanent?

I have the black model and the oil/smudge stains on the back are driving me crazy. Never owned a phone with this issue. I had one guy say it's not actually oil/smudge but the matte material is wearing, so this is a permanent problem.
Kind of annoying since my G3 looks like new but my 5X looks like I hitchhiked across the country. I'm finally considering a dbrand skin but are they permanent? Are they hard to install?
