I know things are tricky right now, but I just wanted to say thank you in a blanket fashion here.
I’m an American and my father is kiwi. We didn’t get on much during my youth, but we’re both here at the moment having a bit of a road trip around the north island over the next 2 weeks.
In the months leading up to my trip over I’ve been a bit active in this sub asking questions in threads relevant to our trip, and beyond, in some cases. Everyone’s been candid and as helpful as they can.
I’ve spent a lot of time here in the 90s but haven’t been here since 2004.
I know things are a bit of a shit show at the moment, but the well advertised hospitality and friendliness of the average kiwi doesn’t seem to have been too affected by current events. I’ve really enjoyed my time here thus far and just appreciate the opportunity to reconnect with my father in your beautiful country.
I’ve been considering a move here with my family for a life more focused on the things that matter. Having frank discussions with locals (and those of you on here) has been very informative about the pros/cons we’d be facing.
Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment and extend my gratitude.
(I promise I’m not your typical American wrapped up in themselves and disregarding your mandates. Really played it safe in the weeks leading up to my travels here)
