Best day hikes around the South Island

Hey redditors!
I’m looking at driving around for a few days this weekend and would love to do a day hike (up to around 8-10 hours return) somewhere in the South Island and I would love to know peoples recommendations!
I will be leaving from Christchurch so the closer the better but I have 4 days off work so I don’t mind driving and staying somewhere
