Spear heavy attack question

Post Body

I was experimenting today with a spear heavy attack build... and it sucks. Even when fully focusing my build around charged heavy attacks, they still do about the same damage as 2 light attacks, which is more flexible, and seems faster as well. So what's the point of all these heavy attack skills? Just longer attack range?

Maybe I'm just doing something wrong? Here's the notable skills/perks I'm using.

  • trenchant strikes ( damage to fully charged heavy attack)
  • deadly consistency (stacking 10% damage for consecutive heavy attacks, up to 30%)
  • reserved strength ( 25% damage when stamina is full)
  • the rest are just supportive skills to keep stamina full and increase crit chance

I'm really hoping I'm just doing something wrong, because otherwise... what's the point of spear heavy attacks? You have the drawback of spending more time immobile to charge the attack, to keep your stamina at 100%, and to make your heavy attacks consecutive, but you get the benefit of still doing less damage than a light attack build?

I get the the spear is really based around using the active skills as much as possible, but it would be cool if there was actually a viable alternative build where you trade all that mobility and skill spamming for some slow heavy bigger DPS.
