Torn on going active vs reserves as a CTR
Post Body

Hey guys, so I am getting ready to join in a month or two, (gotta lose a couple more pounds to qualify), however I have recently come into sort of a dilemma. So I'm 27, and work for fedex and I've recently got promoted to Manager, which means that right now I make a pretty decent living. I would actually take a pretty decent pay cut if I went active right now. So what I am torn on is either still going active or going reserves as enlisted. So I've got a couple questions for anyone who's a reservist, or anyone who might know the answers to.

So there are a couple things that I am looking to get out of the navy, Travel and deploying being the biggest and my top priority, I don' t have a family of my own yet so the only person i have to worry about is me. So even though I am a manager I am only a Cog in the machine that is fed ex so I can leave relatively easily and not have it turn into a problem. As a reservist, How often do you guys travel for training ext? and how easy is it to deploy?

my second set of questions is how do benefits work? can you get the full amount of benefits that active duty guys get if you deploy? I'd like to go back and finish my degree eventually can you get the full benefits of the GI bill?

my final set of questions is if I go reservist and fined out that I like the navy how easy is it to go Active. I know the navy has the RC to AC program (can anyone explain this to me). my final question is how much Navy life can you experience in the reserves.

Thanks
