Would it completely wrong if I was adamant about my choice of going in as an HM? I honestly don't want any other job, except for possibly IS or AG. My recruiter tells me not to go in with that attitude, but I know they have the tendency to lie from time to time. BUT, he has told me that you have the ability to change your rate once you get in after basic. I don't trust that 100% just yet. What should I do?
Wow this was an awesome reply. Thank you so much! You can really stay in DEP for two years like that? I have a couple of rates in mind that I'm considering, but HM is definitely my top choice. Do you know how often that's open by chance? Or is it just day to day?
So what happens when I walk away? Do I just try again another day or am I done with the Navy? What?
Two recruiters tried to get me to do YN! Glorifying it up to be something it's totally not. They both said they receive insane benefits & privileges because they work so closely with the officers. My older cousin, about 29 or 30 told me - his exact words "I would slap you if you joined the Navy and became a YN". No disrespect to the YN that are in now though!!

What're the consequences if I do that? If I don't accept anything but HM?
