My friend is enlisting in the navy what should I know?

Hi, one of my best friends is enlisting in the navy nuke program. She’s leaving for basic pretty soon. What does basic training look like from the friends/family side? Will I be able to have contact with her? Will she have to cut her hair? Is there a time I can visit? Is there an event at the end of basic I can go to to support her?

I know everyone's experiences are a bit different, but my friend is keeping us fairly in the dark, so any kind of advice, information, stories of your own, or just anything you think I should know would be super helpful and reassuring.
