Flights to Newark airport (EWR) getting cancelled?

Recently a host of Air India flights from Delhi to Newark have got cancelled, including mine which was on August 20th. I read an article which mentioned congestion at the Newark airport, which could be a reason. Link
I managed to reschedule my flight to August 23rd, but I am not sure if it will get cancelled as well.
Can anyone aware of the situation at EWR guide me on what should I do. Should I book a flight to a different airport?
